Welcome to the website ofOld Royalists in UAE
Royal College, Colombo was founded in the year 1835 with distinguished personalities such as Messer’s Harward, Hartley, Marsh, Reid & Boake taking an integral part in its formative years. Royal College with its colorful and rich history continues today to be one of Sri Lanka’s premier institutions for primary and secondary education.
Over the years, Royal College has produced many an outstanding personality be it in the professional, academic, sports, political as well other spheres in Sri Lanka and around the globe. We proudly count Presidents and Prime Ministers of Sri Lanka among them, and it is no wonder they have rendered valuable services to Sri Lanka with the kind of foundation provided by Royal College, Colombo.
Old Royalists who live abroad - whilst reminiscing their good old school days, will also Endeavour to form an Alumnae in those countries to keep the Royal College flag flying high and sustain the bonding developed during school days.
With this in mind, and also with a view to give something back to our dear Alma mater, a few old Royalists residing in the United Arab Emirates met on the 17th of December 1999 in Dubai to form the ORUAE ( Old Royalists in the UAE).
The founders comprised such stalwarts as; Rameez Mahamoor, Namal Fernando (Jnr), Namal Fernando (Snr), Mohamed Azmeer and S.A. Ramachandran.
Today with a more than 150-strong membership spread all over the UAE, our Group organizes a range of fun filled activities throughout the year (with the Royal –Thomian dinner dance being the cynosure of all eyes) that brings together all old Royalists and their families.
We aspire to create an unparalleled environment for team work to uphold our glorious traditions and keep the Royal flag and spirits flying high. Our programs will continue to evolve in order to cater to our members’ needs and likes.
