It was another first for the old Royalists in UAE - testing the driving skills in the desert of Dubai.
A challenge well accepted by 26 Old Royalists with their families & friends along with the able support of tour guide Mahinda Dabare (050 4974248), set off into the wild desert of Al Awir (in the outskirts of Dubai). In took almost 2 1/2 hours from the meeting point (Exiles Club) on a convoy along the way. Thanks to the great effort from the organising team and Mr. Dabare, it was an experience and a night we'll not forget too soon.
The first trip was the 4x4 taking across the families to the desert tent - for a first timer (most of us were) it was butterflies in the stomache. However, the subsequent challenge into the desert was abit too much of a task, anyway it was all good fun.
The buffet was splendid and the women & kids enjoyed the camel rides, henna and sand boarding. The belly dancer was a highlight for the day not forgetting the session of Bingo !
When it was getting darker, the guys from Abu Dhabi decided to call it a day - but the Dubai revellers were in the desert till late. |
